Nancy Cartwright FBA FAcSS is Professor of Philosophy at Durham University in the UK and at the University of California at  San Diego and a research associate at the University of Johannesburg. This academic year she has been working as Visiting Professor of Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University. She previously held positions at LSE and Stanford University. Much of her recent work has been on evidence-based policy.

Elizabeth Maggie Penn (Emory University)

Maggie Penn is a professor in the departments of Political Science and Data & Decision Sciences at Emory University and visiting scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation. She is a formal political theorist whose work focuses on social choice theory, classification, political institutions, and inter-group dynamics. She co-edits the Political Economy of Institutions and Decisions book series at Cambridge University Press and served as a managing editor of Social Choice & Welfare from 2015 through 2022.
